World Change...Made Easy

Ever had a big idea?  Just something you think about, dream about and wonder about.  Can't stop thinking about it.  Try as you might, you can't shake it.  But it seems a little crazy.  So you play it safe and do nothing.

That's me.  Often.  I love to write, create, dream, imagine, event plan, speak, organize.  My Poppy was an entrepreneur, starting an international business from scratch.  It was my original major at Baylor University--entrepreneurship.  But long story short, I detoured to what has become a 20 year career in social work. In the area of adoption. Yet, I've never been able to get past my heart's desire to make something from nothing.  I think that's why being crafty is such a soul feeding pursuit for me.

Nearly one year ago, I had an idea.  It was born out of reading Jen Hatmaker's book 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess.  It was actually something she suggested.   In fact, a friend from boot camp organized a version of this idea.

That event was so much fun.  And I pictured it on a grander scale.  And not just for fun.  But for a bigger purpose.  I sat on it for nearly a year.  But, I've decided to quit playing it safe.  I'm going for it!  No time like the present.  So, here it goes, folks.

Here's my little dream.  My big idea.  And it's happening.  So, I HOPE you'll join in.  Because I intend to make it so very easy to be a world changer.  And I think you'll LOVE doing it.

Here are the burning questions.

1.  Do you like to shop?

2.  Do you love a bargain?

3.  Do you want to change the lives of orphans and children worldwide?

If you answered yes to all of these--or even one or two--then come join us!

Here's what we're doing.  A Swap and Shop.  Yep.  A clothes swap. Benefiting the work of One Together, Inc., a non-profit started by my friend Cynthia Hoch.  One Together, Inc. is involved in projects worldwide to touch the lives of children and orphans.  I'm so amazed by the work of this organization that I want to be part of what they are doing.

World change.  It's how they roll.  How about we join in?!

Here's HOW.  Here are the rules of the game of this Swap and Shop.

1.  Purge your gently used clothes and accessories.  (clothes, shoes, jewelry, handbags).  Gently used, folks.  Things you'd give to your BFF. Because you're tired of it.  Or it doesn't fit.

2.  Bring them to Kidztown at 3000 William D. Tate, Grapevine, Texas, on April 25th from 9 am until 3 pm.

3.  Pay your $20 registration fee.

4.  Come back on Saturday, April 26th from 9 am until 3 pm.  Shop for as many items as you brought.

5.  Be a part of it.  And be a part of world change.

Listen, this is going to be FUN.  You can get rid of 10 items.  Pay $20.  And shop for 10 items.  Or 3 items.  Or however many you purge.  If you want to clean out your closet and freshen up your wardrobe, you can do it all for a small cost.  And in so doing, you are reaching children in countries where you may never travel.  Touching the lives of little ones you may never meet.

HOW COOL IS THAT?

Comment with any questions.

And, think about this, too.  IF you want to do more, you can!  You can volunteer to help pull this off.  And even better?  If you volunteer for an hour or more to help with registration or sorting and set-up, you get to come an hour early on shopping day to get first dibs on the goods!

This is going to be SO. MUCH. FUN.  World change.  Made easy. Spread the word.  Mark your calendar.  Start your purging!
