Make it Monday: Chalkboard Place Mats, Create Christmas Project #2

8:12 AMHeather

I am getting knee deep over here in the preparations for CREATE Christmas!  I have a feeling that this 3rd Annual craft day is going to be the best one yet.  In case you haven't heard, it's November 17 from 9am until 4 pm, come and go, at Church at the Cross in Grapevine, Texas.  There will be 5 projects available--all supplies and instructions provided.  Make as much or little as you want.  Pay for what you make on your way out--and each project is only $5!  For $20, you can be done with 4 Christmas gifts.  PLUS all the fun of crafting with friends.

So, here is the second project.  BTW--your $5 is for a set of two of these darling creations.

Chalkboard place mats.  Fun for ALL ages!  The photo above is not actually MY work, I must say.  Stole Borrowed that photo from Pinterest.  But, it does make me think of my friend Megan's sweet girl, Ruby.

Seriously, this has to be one of the easiest and fastest crafts ever.  Truly.  They make great gifts and even better--they are lightweight and EASY to ship to all your out-of-town friends and family.  You can add a little dollar store container and box of chalk, and voile!  Adorbs.

Are your ready for your supply list and instructions?  Brace yourself.

Supplies:
CHEAP vinyl place mats  (U-G-L-Y is fine!  I like the ones with the foamy underside--not just the thin plastic.  Makes those ugly place mats more high class)

Chalkboard vinyl  (here is a link where I've ordered it by the roll)

Scissors

Credit card or gift card  (I keep used up iTunes cards)

Instructions
1.  Cut the vinyl to be the same size as the place mat.

2.  Place the vinyl over the ugliness of the place mat, peeling back only a portion at a time, using your credit card or gift card to smooth out wrinkles, until you have covered your place mat.

Yep.  That's it.  There you go.   If you haven't looked yet, go back and look at the last Make it Monday.  Are you getting the picture here?  Create Christmas is going to be nothing but FUN, QUICK and CHEAP crafts!  I am learning to simplify--truly I am.

You can easily knock out tons of these as your gift of the year on your own, but it's so much more fun with friends.  So COME to CREATE Christmas.  No sign up necessary.  (See?  SIMPLE).  Just come.  Bring a snack or drink to share.  Bring a friend.  And enjoy!  Happy crafting!
